Reginald Jamir's Holy Work is Syted!

Reginald Jamir has another project brewing and this time it is something a bit more artistic. It seems that he is now working alongside ActivAsia and Skyway for a monumental project. Still in its conceptual stage is the shrine for Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage or locally known as Our Lady of Antipolo. The project's site is quite interesting. It is along the Southern Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and adjacent to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). With this site being very travel oriented, and the country being primarily Roman Catholic, the image of the Virgin Mary becomes quite appropriate. Therefore, Jamir further pushed the theme of motion by putting her in the center of a 40 foot ring which symbolizes eternity. The rays that emanate from behind her can be seen as wheel spokes that clearly touches on the dynamic nature of the site. Earlier renderings show a Westward orientation, which uses light as another symbol for motion. The sculpture changes as the day progresses. Its 15 degree tilt towards the motorists, it captures their attention and engages a view towards the heavens. We certainly are excited to see this in about a year. Reginald Jamir's Work is Syted!

Reginald Jamir, an architectural designer based in Los Angeles, CA, believes that Architecture touches many different aspects of life and that the field should produce more than architects, but problem solvers and designers for every other field. His mission now is to promote it and put his architectural skills in other areas while he is still young. However, he still manages to appease his design appetite and give service to the world. Please indulge yourself with his most recent work.

His recent trip to the Philippines yielded more than a vacation, but windows of opportunity. His most recent commission is SucMun Bay Marina in Brgy. Sucat of the city of Muntinlupa. It is designed to stop the further inflitration of illegal dwellers and to promote Eco-Tourism. The majority of the site was previously a sports complex. It was torn down due to structural problems. With the adjacent town hall and health center still on site, this concept was created. A new set of civic buildings that will serve as the gateway for the new lakefront development.
